DISAPPOINTING!
That is one word that we can aptly describe the result of the Metro Manila Film Ferstival (MMFF) Awards night held recently at the Meralco Theater.
Why? Because it fails to meet majority of the expectations especially from the people at the core of the mainstream entertainment industry.
Yes, there is no doubt that Robin Padilla is at his best as an actor in his entry to the MMFF but there are other actors who are also deserving to be commended and be recognized like Gov. ER Ejercito when he gave life to the role of Boy Golden on his movie entry and not to mention Vice Ganda where he plays four characters as his role which is first time that happened in the history of film making.
The technical awards was also raked in by Robin Padilla starrer but Boy Golden: Shoot to Kill is equally superb. Consider the fact that the movie was graded A by the Cinema Evaluation Board (CEB).
Even Maricel Soriano was shocked when her name was called as the Best Actress of this year’s MMFF. Not that she is a mediocre actress but because evidently, she played supporting to the lead stars.
If the MMFF organizing committee thinks that there is no best actress in the movie, then so be it! ‘Wag nang pilitin pa.
As always, the result of MMFF awards night is always full of suspicion and hunch that something was cooking, hence, the outcome is always dissatisfying.
Perhaps, it’s high time that the leadership in organizing the MMFF should be transferred to the real film pundits because if not, the future of the movie entries on the succeeding MMFF would be uncertain.

ATTY. Vince Tanada should be extolled for the unconditional support he is giving the theater actors through his Philippines Stager Foundation.
Without any requisite, his hands are always ready to be extended to all artists who has the passion of exhibiting their talent on stage.
Vince is a lawyer by profession but he is also a writer, and an actor, and a great singer, so he spearheaded a theater group who always display a spectacular performance whenever they are called for.
Atty. Vince is best remembered as the lead starrer on his very first film venture, Otso, where he was directed by no other than The Man himself, Direk Elwood Perez.
Admittedly, he is a greenhorn on screen but Direk Elwood pronounced that Vince is a pure talent.
In the coming year of 2014, his stage musical Bonifacio will be played on selected venues. Just watch out for the annoucement, guys!
