SYDNEY (AFP)— Iginiit ni Myanmar opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi noong Huwebes na hindi siya santo at icon, sinabing hindi niya gusto ang mga titulo at itinuturing ang sarili na matapat na politiko at isa lamang karaniwang tao.
“I always object to the word icon, because it’s very static, it stands there, sits there, hangs on the wall, and I happen to work very, very hard,” wika niya sa madla sa Sydney sa kanyang pagbisita sa Australia.
Sinabi ng Nobel Peace Prize winner na ayaw rin niya na tinatawag siyang santo. “Let me assure you I am no saint of any kind; this I find very troubling, because politicians are politicians, but I do believe there is such a thing as an honest politician and I aspire to that,” aniya.
