PRES. AQUINO VISITS FIRST SCOUR RANGER REGIMENT

THE Commander-in-Chief arrived Camp Tecson, San Miguel, Bulacan, home of the First Scout Ranger Regiment (FSRR), at 10 am on Saturday, 28 March 2015 and immediately engaged in a pep talk with the officers and men before honing his skills in firing with the PSG Shooting Team and BIR Commissioner Kim Henares who arrived in a separate chopper.

During his meet and greet session with the soldiers, President Aquino announced the signing of the Joint Resolution of Congress providing additional Subsistence Allowance to all men in uniform, including CAFGUs and NAMRIA personnel. He also urged the soldiers to ask questions about anything.

Three soldiers spoke up. Noting that the three were seated together in just one corner of the conference room, the President said in jest, “Parang set up ah,” eliciting laughter from those who were present.

One soldier mustered enough courage to ask whether aside from the Subsistence Allowance there were other benefits being mulled for soldiers, the President said there was none because he is focusing more on providing housing for them.

The President left the camp at 5:00 pm after four hours of fun shooting. Except for RTVM–the presidential broadcast staff–no representatives from media organizations were present in the exclusive event. BEEN THERE DONE THAT/JOSEPHINE JARON-CODILLA
