Sinimulang magpatupad ang Department of Health (DoH) ng price freeze sa may 200 gamot upang maprotektahan ang libu-libong biktima ng kalamidad mula sa mga mapagsamantalang botika.
Sinabi ni DoH Secretary Enrique Ona na saklaw ng price freeze ang lahat ng supplier, pharmacy at ospital sa bansa.
“We have to make sure that they have access to the medicines that they need and that public hospitals and government agencies are able to source affordable drugs to reach as many of our countrymen severely affected by this crisis,” sabi ni Ona.
Sa ilalim ng RA 7581 (The Price Act), may kapangyarihan ang DoH na magpatupad ng price freeze para sa mga pampubliko at pribadong botika sa mga lugar na nasalanta ng kalamidad upang mapangalagaan ang mga consumer mula sa mga mapagsamantalang negosyante.
Kabilang sa mga isinailalim sa price freeze ang mga gamot sa physical at mental trauma, mga sugat, diarrhea, pneumonia, sakit sa balat at iba pang impeksiyon tulad ng leptospirosis.
“With the price freeze in effect, suppliers, pharmacies and hospitals should not unduly hike the prices of essential drugs from their prevailing prices before the occurrence of the calamity,” sabi ni Ona.
Ayon sa kalihim, ilalathala sa mga pahayagan ang price ceiling sa Drug Price Reference Index at Suggested Retail Price sa mga susunod na araw.
“This will guide consumers on the lowest cost quality generic drugs in private pharmacies,” aniya. – Samuel P. Medenilla
