Hurting Djokovic advances at Wimbledon

NOVAK DJOKOVIC survived a scary fall and an even scarier opponent in Gilles Simon to advance into the fourth round of Wimbledon.

He won in straight sets, but needed two hours and 12 minutes to defeat the Frenchman, 6-4, 6-2, 6-4. Djokovic broke Simon’s serve early in the first two sets to set the tone, but Simon never surrendered easy points.

The most dramatic point of the match occurred when the 2011 champion fell heavily on the baseline as Simon was serving in the fifth game of the third set.

A trainer was immediately called to treat a shoulder injury, but Djokovic returned to the court and was never seriously challenged as he completed the victory with a final service break in the 10th game.

Djokovic will next face Jo-Wilfried Tsonga for a place in the quarterfinals. Noli Cruz
