Hiniling kahapon ni Iloilo City Rep. Jerry Treñas na bigyang prayoridad ang konstruksiyon ng trans-link bridges na mag-uugnay sa mga isla ng Panay, Guimaras at Negros sa pamamagitan ng Public-Private Partnership (PPP) upang mapabilis ang pagsulong ng ekonomiya sa Western Visayas.
“The said trans-link bridges should be part of the Public-Private Partnership Programs which are integral part of the President’s socio-economic agenda, which aims to maximize sustained, balance and inclusive economic growth needed to generate jobs and improve the nation’s infrastructure,” ani Trenas.
Sinabi niyang mas malaki ang pondo na tinatanggap ng National Capital Region mula sa pambansang budget subalit hindi rin dapat umano kalimutan ang pagkakaloob ng sapat na infrastructure and economic development projects sa Visayas.
“It’s just fair and necessary to prioritize infra-development to the Visayas Islands which have greater population than Metro Manila based on the National Statistics Office census,” punto ni Treñas.
Iginiit niya na ang trans-link bridges ay magbubukas ng bagong oportunidad sa ekonomiya, magbabawas sa presyo ng transportasyon at negosyo, magpapalakas sa access sa mga serbisyong panlipunan at mapasisigla ang turismo sa Western Visayan Region. – Bert de Guzman
