Nauwi sa draw ang laban nina Daryl Unix Samantila ng Malabon at Carlo Caranyagan ng Rizal sa ikalimang round habang ganoon din ang naging kapalaran nina Paulo Bersamina ng Pasay City at John Fleer Donguines ng Pasig City sa 2013 National Youth Chess Championships kahapon.
Sina Samantila, Bersamina at Donguines ay nagtala ng 4.5 puntos upang okupahan ang liderato sa inorganisang National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCF) Boys and Girls15 years-old below event na suportado ng Philippine Sports Commission at Philippine Olympic Committee.
Kabuuang 120 players ang sumali sa 1st NYCC standard competition na isinasagawa sa Philippine Sports Commission onference Room, Administration Bldg., Vito Cruz, Manila.
Ang 3-araw na aktibidad ay nilahukan ng mga manlalaro mula sa Cebu, Baguio, Ilocos Norte, Vigan, Candon, Tarlac,
Pangasinan, Angeles, Olongapo, Bulacan, Laguna, Cavite, Batangas at Bicol region, ayon kay NCFP Executive Director GM Jayson Gonzales.
“A very successful tournament indeed for this maiden competition. Introducing for the 1st time for the year 2013,” sinabi pa nito.
Nangunguna naman sina Genlaiza Pearl Bagorio (Girls 15-years-old and below), Michael Concio Jr. (Boys 9 years-old and below) at Prince Louise Oncita (Girls 9-years-old and below) sa naitalang 4 na puntos. – Angie Oredo
