Nagbabala si Senate President Pro Tempore Ralph Recto na mawawalan ng saysay ang flood control program ng pamahalaan sa National Capital Region (NCR) dahil sa malakakas na ulan.
Ayon kay Recto, hindi angkop ang programa sa madalas na pag-ulan nitong mga nakaraang araw at ito ang kanyang itatanong sa Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) sa kanilang budget hearing.
“Reports indicate that the Habagat rains last August – as affected by typhoon Maring – dumped more rainwater than it did in 2012. It was also stronger than Ondoy, If this is true, then we should be bracing for heavier rains that will bring more rainwater and increase flooding in Metro Manila.
The government should take note of this when it identifies projects under its anti-flood master plan,” ayon kay Recto,

Aniya, napatunayan ang kawalang handa sa pagsugpo ng baha sa paghagupit ng Habagat nitong mga nakaraang linggo na nagdulot ng ilang araw na pagkasuspendi ng mga klase at trabaho. – Leonel Abasola
