Pinabulaanan ni Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Chairman Ricardo Garcia na hindi niya binigyan ng tsansa o pagkakataon ang Wrestling Association of the Philippines (WAP) na ipaliwanag ang panig nila hinggil sa umano’y iniulat na anomalya ng asosasyon sa pagtatalaga ng regional coaches.
Sinabi ni Garcia na nagkaharap silang dalawa ni WAP president Juan Alberto Balde noong Setyembre 16 kung saan ay kanilang pinag-usapan ang reklamong inilatag sa ahensiya sa umano’y pagtatalaga ng hindi mga kuwalipikadong regional coaches at pagtatrabaho ng isa bilang masahista sa asosasyon ng athletics.
“If I can recall, I had a one-on-one meeting with Mr. Balde on the 16th, a day bago napublished iyong sinasabi niya na mga news on the 17th. He even told me to reduce the number of regional coaches from 15 to 7. So paano nasabi na I didn’t give him a day in court. Sumulat pa siya kay PNoy.
As process, I will answer him,” sinabi ni Garcia.
Ipinaliwanag na rin ni Garcia sa Philipine Olympic Committee (POC) ang pangyayari kung saan ay sinabi naman ng pangulo ng pribadong asosasyon na si Jose “Peping” Cojuangco na gagawa ito ng sariling imbestigasyon sa mga grupo na nagrereklamo hinggil sa pagtatalaga ng mga unqualified coach.
“The PSC admit we are a little lapse, but that is dahil meron kaming tiwala sa mga NSA’s, na sila ay sincere, pero nalaman pa rin natin na me mga tao pa rin that didn’t even know they are recommended as coaches,” giit ni Garcia.
Una nang inireklamo ng WAP, sa ipinadala nitong sulat kay Pangulong Benigno Simeon Aquino III, ang PSC, partikular si Chairman Garcia, hinggil sa mga lumabas na ulat na umano’y anomalya sa asosasyon.
Base sa ipinadalang sulat ni WAP president Juan Alberto Balde noong Setyembre 23 kay Pangulong Noynoy, hinihiling nito na pagpaliwanagin ng Chief Executive sa pamamagitan ng written clarification si Garcia hinggil sa mga lumabas na balita ukol sa alegasyon nito sa asosasyon.
“Sadly, our association recently came under fire thru press releases issued by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), the sports agency under your esteemed office,” bahagi ng sulat ni Balde.
“It is for this reason that we are forwarding in your good office a copy of our letter addressed to PSC Chairman Ricardo Garcia asking his honor for a written clarification on his printed allegations in several tabloids the past weeks – a document which he should have issued to us prior to resorting to media offensive,” nakasaad pa sa sulat.
“Because we in the WAP are also very supportive of Your Excellency’s “Daang Matuwid campaign and we have nothing to hide regarding the use of public funds appropriated by the PSC for the sport of wrestling, we deemed it proper to inform Your Excellency on this national sports issue,” sinabi pa ni Balde sa sulat.
“This issue is a very welcome distraction in the thick of our preparation for the looming SEA Games, especially with the reported threat that even the monthly allowance of our national coaches would be suspended a.s.ap. by the PSC,” reklamo pa ni Balde.
Una nang pinagpaliwanag ni Garcia si Balde hinggil sa nahalungkat ng ahensiya sa pagtatrabaho ng isa sa 15 regional coach na isa palang masahista sa Philippine Amateur Track and Field Association (PATAFA). Itinalaga ito upang magturo sa wrestling sa Ormoc City.
Nasundan ito ng reklamo mula sa magulang ng isang 16-anyos na miyembro ng national pool mula sa Baguio na kinuha ang kanyang ATM at hindi binibigyan ng dapat na makuhang monthly allowance mula sa ahensiya.- Angie Oredo
