A more sensible Martin after 33 years

IT was a subdued Martin Nievera who faced the press at the Luxent Hotel the other day in connection with his concert with Asia’s songbird Regine Velasquez, Gary Valenciano and Lani Misalucha.

Inasmuch as he’s still voluble and articulate beyond words and super eloquent as well, somehow you could sense that he has somewhat changed.

Indeed, he is now a changed man in the sense that he is not as wacky and zany as before but voluble nonetheless. Apart from that, he has learned not to expect too much out of any show or concert that he’s slated to do. “Good things come to those who wait,” he rationalizes.

According to the concert king who loves to cook in between his shows and concerts, he’s fortunate enough to have a good agent in the States in the person of the indefatigable Coleen Castro who happens to be a class act as Martin aptly puts it.

Anyway, the month of February appears to be a busy month inasfar as Martin is concerned.

February 5 and 6, he’ll be at the Cebu Convention Center and on the 13th and on the 14th, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay city.

On top of that, he has ASAP to attend to on a Sunday afternoon, along with some corporate shows on the side. “I have to keep moving,” he gushingly states. “We need to prepare for ASAP’s 20th year anniversary.

And speaking about Pops Fernandez, he says that their relationship now is more ideal than before.

“There’s so much love between us,” he asseverates. “The kind of love I would wish for anyone.”

Kay Martin pa rin, he was able to share a secret that a lot of the press people present find inordiately amusing. Through the years, he’s been able to study and master his buddy’s (Gary V.) signature. Hahahahahahahahaha!

In one of their shows together, the fans had a pleasant surprise when he autographed their picture together when Gary had already left.

Six hours na raw kasi ang autograph session, Gary had to leave for he still had another commitment.

‘Yong kanyang autograph daw nakalagay love, Martin lang. “In Gary’s case,”” he tells the amused press people milling around him,” may God bless pa!”

Oo nga naman. Hahahahahahahahahaha!

Anyway, this year, in the tradition of giving OPM fans the best in concert entertainment, Starmedia and IME invite everyone to celebrate the much anticipated concert team up in the history of Philippine concerts – Ultimate.

Ultimate will feature Martin Nievera, Regine Velasquez, Lani Misalucha and Gary Valenciano.

Anyhow, his adoring fans are wondering why he still had to leave the network that he had transferred into when good roles were coming his way.

Ang sabi, hindi raw kasi natupad ang kanyang dream na i-follow ang lofty footsteps ng kanyang idol na aktor. Well, pa’no naman, food trip galore siya kaya ang ending, lumobo siya at naging comedian ang dating unlike his idol na papang-papa pa ang arrive at an age when actors are already contemplating on moving on to another facet of their lives.

Hahahahahahahahahaha!
