Globe turns over P1.8M to Cordillera Conservation Trust

globe GLOBE Senior Vice President for Corporate Communications Yoly Crisanto turned over P1.8 million to the Cordillera Conservation Trust (CCT) represented by its Executive Director JP Alipio for the establishment of 45 seedling nurseries in the Cordillera mountain ranges, bringing the total number to 100 since the project was launched in 2012.

The amount was generated from registration fees of some 700 bikers who participated in the recent Globe Cordillera Challenge 5 as well as from donations of Globe employees and concerned individuals.

CCT, which is Globe Telecom’s partner-beneficiary for the biking event, operates the Roots & Shoots program to produce seedlings for tree planting purposes in response to lack of water efficient trees and the huge cost of buying and hauling saplings to remote areas.

The Cordilleras is the first Community of Practice (CoP) of Globe, receiving assistance from the different advocacies of the company such as good governance, entrepreneurship, environment and sustainability, social services, and volunteerism.
