THE League of Filipino Students (LFS) described the Supreme Court’s decision on the Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP) released today as a “fractional victory” of the mass mobilizations projected towards the abolition the pork barrel system.
LFS said that the Supreme Court ruling declaring Aquino’s DAP as unconstitutional affirms him as the true “Pork Barrel King.” However, the youth group stressed that the prosecution of Aquino, Budget Secretary Florencio Abad, and all their allies involved in the pork barrel scam is greater goal to look forward to.
“DAP links the anomalous pork scam to its number one protector and perpetrator, Aquino. This ruling, however, is only a fractional victory of our fight against corruption. Now that the Supreme Court has verified the fact that DAP is an instrument used for corruption, Aquino has to resign now at least out of delicadeza – lest he doesn’t want to be kicked out of his throne by the outrage of the people,” LFS National Spokesperson Charlotte Velasco stated.
LFS insisted that Aquino and Abad clearly committed malversation of public funds and betrayal of public trust orchestrating the corruption system thru DAP. They did not only violate the constitution but also openly betrayed the public’s trust in order to advance their self-serving interests.
The youth group also slammed Aquino’s selective justice and reiterated their call to prosecute all those involved in the pork barrel scam.
“We call on the youth and the people to be vigilant. Aquino can expect for massive protests calling for the absolute removal of the pork barrel system in the coming days. We will make sure that everyone involved in Aquino’s scheme of corruption,” the youth leader said.
LFS will join several other youth organizations under Youth Act Now in a march to the Mendiola Peach Arch calling for the abolition of the entire pork barrel system and the prosecution of all those involved in the pork scam.
