THE anti-crime operations of the Caloocan police called ‘Oplan-Galugad’ have been showing positive results as indicated by the arrest of several criminals, including those who had long been wanted by law as well as confiscation of drugs and guns, among others.
Police chief, Senior Supt. Bernard Tambaoan, is all praises for his top men led by Supt. Ferdinand del Rosario, North Extension Office commander and concurrent assistant police chief for operations, for a job well done.
In the latest ‘Oplan,’ Del Rosario and other policemen, namely, Chief Inspectors Avelino Protacio, Crisanto Lleva and Moner Orang, Sr. Insp. Rogelio Batar and Insp. Celso Sevilla and their men caught a suspected drug peddler and seized at least three unlicensed guns in Brgy. 178, Camarin, a densely-populated community in Caloocan.
The confiscated firearms were already in the police custody while the arrested suspect was turned over to the Station Anti-Illegal Drugs for proper investigation and formal filing of charges.
Del Rosario recalls that they were conducting the operation in the area last Monday morning when two men ran away after they noticed the approaching police personnel. This prompted the cops to give chase but the two unnamed men managed to elude arrest. But they left behind a camouflage bag which contained the seized guns, says Del Rosario.
Though the anti-crime campaign is showing results, for sure, Mayor Oca Malapitan would be much happier and convinced if the police could solve the killings involving barangay executives by arresting the killers and unmasking the brains.
We have high regard for Col. Tambaoan and the entire Caloocan police. Certainly, the perpetrators will soon be caught and prosecuted.
FREED
NO less than Environment Secretary Ramon Paje is extremely gratified to Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte following the release without any condition of at least five abducted contractors of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources last week in Maco, Compostela Valley.
Paje says: “In behalf of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, our sincerest thanks to Mayor Duterte for his help in freeing the Skyeye personnel without any condition.”
Four of the five victims were employees of Skyeye, a contractor of DENR conducting an audit of the National Greening Program plantations using unmanned aerial vehicle or drone.
The victims were Kendrick Wong, Chris Favila, Tim Sabino and Nico Lasaca. The fifth one, Jonas Loredo is the driver of the van rented by the group.
