IKINATUWA ng Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) ang pagsusumikap ng pamahalaan na labanan ang korapsyon sa pamamagitan nang pagsasampa ng kaso laban sa mga taong isinasangkot sa P10-billion pork barrel scam.
Sa kabila naman nito, nagbabala si CBCP President at Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Socrates Villegas laban sa selective justice o pagpili lamang ng mga taong paparusahan hinggil sa eskandalo.
Ayon kay Villegas, ang paglaban sa korapsyon ay tuwid na daan ngunit iginiit nito na hindi dapat na mamili ng mga taong papapanagutin sa batas at sa halip ay panagutin ang lahat ng may kinalaman sa anomalya, anoman ang kanilang political affiliations.
“We laud the effort of government to deal resolutely with graft and corrupt practices. This is the path of righteousness. Those who have been charged must be dealt with the full force of the law,” ani Villegas. “Those who are tasked to prosecute must observe total commitment to the human rights of the accused.”
“Everybody culpable, whatever their political affiliations may be, should be investigated and, if so warranted, indicated. When justice is selective, it is not justice at all,” giit pa ng CBCP head.
Nitong Biyernes ay sinampahan na ng kaso ng Ombudsman sa Sandiganbayan sina Janet Napoles at senators Juan Ponce Enrile, Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada at Ramon “Bong” Revilla, Jr.
