OUR hardworking congressman comes from a large family of ten siblings.
Thus, he knows the real value of education — and, how it can ensure a better future for anyone determined to make something out of their lives.
Especially, for those who are presently struggling in life but are determined to succeed in the future.
Recently, Marikina City Mayor Del De Guzman lauded the significance of the educational programs of Rep. Romero Federico Quimbo (District II) in the city’s pursuit to meet the needs of the rising number of students in the city.
Miro, as Quimbo, is popularly called, wants to provide students with a more conductive environment for learning, particularly in the city’s second district where some 40,000 students are enrolled in public elementary and secondary schools.
The Office of Marikina’s District II Representative turned over recently a new four-storey building consisting of 16 classrooms for Marikina High School, and a four-storey building comprising of 20 classrooms for Nangka Elementary School.
Construction of additional school buildings for Parang Elementary School, St. Mary Elementary School, and H. Bautista Elementary School is likewise ongoing.
Availability of the aforementioned school buildings will further prevent crowding of students in eight public elementary schools and six public secondary schools in the District II (as of School Year 2012-2013 when there was an average of 1:50 classroom-to-student ratio).
“The educational program being offered by the Office of Rep. Quimbo plays a significant role in providing quality education for the young MarikeƱos.
“We are optimistic that the kind of education our public schools provide our students are at par with that provided in private schools,” De Guzman said.
Significantly, the Q CHED Scholarship Program and Q Family Scholarship Program provide additional opportunities to the marginalized yet deserving students who wish to avail of scholarship grants.
The former is supporting 2,200 scholars in college level while the latter is supporting 3,500 school scholars in elementary and secondary levels.
