THE Social Security System (SSS) has gained the support of the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) in ensuring the SSS coverage of PGLU’s more than 400 job order (JO) and contractual workers across the province, including those employed in government hospitals and schools, who are excluded from coverage under the Government Service Insurance System.

Under a memorandum issued by the Office of the Provincial Governor last April 15, all JO and contractual employees of the PGLU will be reported for mandatory SSS coverage as self-employed members effective June 1, 2014, with their contributions collected and remitted monthly to SSS by the PGLU.

The SSS-PGLU partnership is in line with the agreement signed by SSS and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) this year.
