KASINGTINDI ng super-typhoon Yolanda ang susunod na bagyong babayo sa Pilipinas at tatama ito sa Bicol region at sa iba pang lugar sa east coast, ayon sa pahayag kaninang umaga (Abril 3) ng chief advisor ng German Development Cooperation’s (GIZ) on disaster risk management, Olaf Neussner.
“Statistically speaking, more typhoons go into the Philippines in the north so this is still in the storm belt… [The] probability is higher in Bicol so there should be a prioritization done to look at areas in the north,” babala pa nito.
Ipinaliwanag ni Neussner, normal lang na ang mga bagyo ay nagmula o nabuo sa Pacific Ocean, at ang east coast ng bansa ang namimiligro kaysa sa west coast.
Napansin din ni Neussner na mas malakas ang mga bagyo kapag nagmula o nabuo ito sa silangan.
“Bicol is in higher danger of high waves from storm surge than areas that are in the west coast [like Metro Manila],” dagdag pa nito.
Hindi naman inaalis pa ni Neussner ang posibilidad na isang super-typhoon ang mananalasang muli sa Leyte at Samar.
