Truck ban in Manila will continue – Isko

AMIDST report of another truck holiday by certain truck operators, Manila Vice Mayor Isko Moreno today stood firm on the decision of the CIty Government to strictly implement the Truck Ban Ordinance saying “we have already acceded to most if not all of their request ”citing the window hours by which truck can now operate which is from 10am to 5pm.

Moreno said that the City Government will not be cowed by their threat saying “they are the ones that should be held liable for economic sabotage.” He added that the so called economic losses brought about by the truck ban was actually caused by the “truck strike more than the truck ban itself.”

The Vice Mayor pointed out that traffic in Manila greatly improved during the duration of the Truck Ban and that most stakeholders, including PPA and the Bureau of Customs have already made adjustments and that is why it puzzles him why suddenly some truck operators are at it again.

“We all have to make sacrifices to ease the burden commuters and motorists are experiencing and the worst, is actually still yet to come as construction of SKYWAY 3 enters its advanced stage,” Moreno noted.

Moreno reiterated his earlier call for more patience and understanding saying the City Government is doing its best to manage traffic and will soon launch its own state of the art and technologically advanced Command Center.
