RIDING NPD OF ‘BAT EGGS’

arlie-calalo41 THERE are about 10 erring police officers in the Northern Metro Manila who are under the Northern Police District and are poised to be reassigned to Mindanao area or certainly outside the Metropolis.

According to NPD Director Chief Supt. Edgar Layon, there are actually five more lawmen aside from the first batch of 10 who all come from the police stations in CAMANAVA (Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas and Valenzuela) area and at the district headquarters that will face similar process over their alleged malpractices in the line of duty.

“I have placed them under investigation and sanctions will follow as soon as the results would come out,” says the NPD boss as he defends his actions as being part of the cleansing process.

“The NPD leadership will not hesitate to deal with them accordingly,” adds Gen. Layon while reminding the police station chiefs, namely, Senior Supt. Bernard Tambaoan (Caloocan), Sr. Supt. Severino Abad (Malabon), Sr. Supt. Conrado Gongon (Navotas) and Sr. Supt. Rhoderick Armamento (Valenzuela) that they’d be the first to get the blame for every infraction their subordinates would commit.

Just the same, he’s quick to acknowledge them for working hard in their respective jobs as shown by the good performance of their police stations particularly on peace and order and anti-crime campaign.

Vowing to rid his turf of ‘bad eggs’ whose misdeeds discredit the police organization such as accepting bribe from illegal gambling operators and other irregularities, Gen. Layon is also particular in instilling discipline and proper wearing of uniforms through “Tamang Bihis” program.

Navotas’ volunteer team hailed

After several days in the municipalities of Lawaan and Giporlos in Leyte province, which were ‘adopted’ by the Navotas City government as part of Metro Manila Development Authority’s ‘Adopt-a-Town’ Program, the 35 volunteers have returned as they were warmly welcomed by Mayor John Rey Tiangco and key local officials as well as City Hall employees.

The volunteers were from various local departments and national government agencies who rendered services for the relief-and-clearing operation and medical mission in the typhoon-hit municipalities last November 21-27, 2013.

As they deserve the much-needed rest, for sure Mayor Tiangco will have them undergone stress debriefing.

Such procedure is important as the volunteers had undeniably been exposed to widespread human suffering and destruction which, in a way, can be traumatic as they returned to their respective homes.

There must be no stopping, let’s continue extending help and other support to our hapless Kababayan there in the Visayas region.
