DAGUPAN CITY – Nakatakdang maging host ang lungsod ng Dagupan ng Ronda Pilipinas 2014 sa Pebrero 9 at 10 na lalahukan ng 96 professional cyclists mula sa mga lokal at dayuhang koponan na may nakalaang kabuuang P8-milyong papremyo.
Ayon kay Race Director at Consultant Ricardo Rodriguez , ikinagalak nito ang mabilis na tugon ni Mayor Belen T. Fernandez at handa itong maghost ng Ronda Pilipinas sa lungsod.
“We are happy that Mayor Belen was enthusiastic to host next year’s race considering the tourism exposure it may bring the city to other countries and the reality of boosting the interest of the youth in the sports,” pahayag ni Rodriguez.
Kilala ang Pangasinan bilang pugad ng magagaling na siklista katulad nina Jess Garcia, Baler Ravina, ang unang Filipino champion ng Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) sanctioned Le Tour de Pilipinas; at Santy Barnachea, unang Ronda Pilipinas champation at marami pang iba.
“Ravina and Barnachea will again see action in the Ronda Pilipinas 2014, including the rising star Mark Julius Bodios, a 19 year lad from Pangasinan who had seen action in the Tour of Borneo in Malaysia and Tour of Pochow in China,” dagdag pa ni Rodriguez.
Ang naturang pakarera ay nasa ika 4 na taon na at inaasahan ang iba’t ibang koponan mula sa Netherlands, Australia, Uzbekistan, Iran, China, Japan, Korea, Malaysia ang makikipagtagisan .
Ang mga siklista at ang Ronda Pilipinas entourage ay bibigyan ng fellowship dinner sa ika-9 ng Pebrero sa paghahanda sa Bangus Festival.
“Tourism wise, this is good for the city because of the participation of international teams and it is very timely as the city will celebrate its Bangus Festival this April,”dagdag ni Rodriguez. (Liezle Basa Inigo)
