Secret marshal sa PUVs, iginiit

Hangad ng mga mambabatas ang nationwide deployment ng mga secret marshal sa lahat ng bus at iba pang public utility vehicle (PUV) sa bansa upang matiyak ang kaligtasan ng mga pasahero.

Inihain nina Buhay Party-List Reps. Mariano Velarde Jr., Jose Atienza Jr. at Irwin Tieng ng House Bill 3150 na magtatalaga ng mga police marshal na tutugis sa mga kriminal na nambibiktima ng mga commuter.



“The police marshals shall be tasked to maintain peace and order while on duty and shall ensure that the drivers of buses or utility vehicles are following the traffic rules,” ani Velarde.

“With a marshal on board the public utility vehicles, petty crooks thinking twice, terror plots derailed and reckless drivers disciplined are just a few of the consequences surely welcomed by the riding public,” dagdag niya.

Sinabi ni Velarde na alinsunod sa panukala, nakasuot ng civilian clothes ang mga secret marshal habang naka-duty.

Sa HB 3150, aatasan ang Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) at Land Transportation Office (LTO) na isumite sa Philippine National Police (PNP) ang imbentaryo ng mga pampublikong sasakyan sa bansa, samantala ang Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) naman ang bubuo ng mga kinakailangang patakaran sa pagpapatupad ng nasabing panukala. – Charissa M.
