TR-CP manhandles EBT in McKinley opener

TR-CP made short work of EBT, 75-51, in the opener of the inaugural McKinley Hill Invitational on Saturday (October 4) at the Dumlao Gym in Shaw Boulevard.

A quick 12-3 start gave TR-CP an early separation inside the first five minutes of the match and it never looked back from there.

The margin swelled to as many as 35 in the third period, 65-30, before EBT put up some resistance to make the final score more respectable.

Ian Ples led TR-CP with 20 points while Ed Kasunuran tallied 12 to pace EBT.

HP-FCS pulls away late in win

HP-FCS bucked a slow start to beat Statestreet HCL, 60-50, and grab an early share of the lead in the inaugural McKinley Hill Invitational on Saturday (October 4) at the Dumlao Gym in Shaw Boulevard.

Statestreet HCL came out hot and led, 23-15, early in the second quarter. But HP-FCS refused to just roll over and die.

HP-FCS tightened its defensive crews in the third period to take the lead as Statestreet HCL fell to an avalanche of turnovers.

With Joseph Nery providing a steady dose of offense, HP-FCS sustained its form in the payoff period and won pulling away.

The victory gave HP-FCS a piece of the lead in its division with opening game winner TR-CP.

Nery led HP-FCS with 20 points while Rodge Lozada notched 12 for Statestreet HCL.

Factset cruises to victory

Factset used a balanced attack to overwhelm CBPS, 82-34, and join the early leaders in the inaugural McKinley Hill Invitational on Saturday (October 4) at the Dumlao Gym in Shaw Boulevard.

Also winning their opening matches in the division were TR-CP and HP-FCS.

The early goings of the game showed no hint of a blowout. They were knotted at 10-all with two minutes to go in the first quarter as both teams struggled from the field.

But a 5-0 run to close the opening period was all Factset needed to heat up its engine. Soon the gap ballooned to 32-13 at halftime and to 52-25 at the end of the third.

With its bench proving to be as lethal as its starters, Factset kept on padding the lead even when the game was already beyond reach.

Aldrin Javier took scoring honor for Factset with 14 points while William Cerin paced CBPS with nine.
