Citibank continues to roll

CITIBANK showed no rust in routing HSBC, 99-68, on Saturday (October 25) in the Inter-Foreign Bank League (IFBL) at the Homecourt Gym in Mandaluyong City.

The two-time defending champ picked up where it left off after taking a rest the previous week to notch its third straight lopsided win. HSBC fell to 1-2.

Patrick Cabrera scattered eight points in the first quarter to give Citibank an early 22-15 cushion. There was no looking back from there.

“I think our opponents know that we have a lot of weapons in our team,” Cabrera said. “So when someone is off, somebody will step up and do the damage.”

Citibank’s depth also allowed the team to beat its first three opponents by an average margin of 28.7 points.

After a quite first half, Jan Michael Adamos poured in 22 points in the second half for Citibank to preside over the carnage.

Adamos scored seven points in the third period as Citibank turned a 12-point halftime lead into a 67-46 bubble. He added 15 more in the fourth to complete his team’s domination.

“We rarely look at the scoreboard. We just keep on playing the game the right way,” said Adamos.

In other games, Lawrence Tan split a pair of free throws in the closing seconds to lift Macquarie past Deutsche Knowledge Services, 65-64, while JP Morgan Chase and Co. kept its semifinal hopes alive with a 56-48 victory over Capital One. Noli Cruz
