BINATIKOS ni Kabataan Partylist Rep. Terry Ridon ang patuloy na pagtanggi ni Pangulong Aquino na sertipikahang urgent ang Freedom of Information Bill.
Ito’y matapos banggit i-interview sa radio na hindi niya sesertipikahang urgent ang FOI bill dahil hindi naman ito maituturing na national emergency.
Hindi aniya pang-madalian ang FOI kumpara aniya sa Sin Tax Law at Reproductive Health Law.
Ngunit ayon kay Ridon, ito’y pagpapakita lamang na pagdating kay Pangulong Aquino ay may double-standard pa rin ito sa pagsesertipika ng mga panukala.
“A national emergency is not needed to certify a bill as urgent. Just look at how Aquino readily declared the bill extending the bogus land reform law as urgent. Such pronouncement reveals the president’s double standards when it comes to certifying bills,” ani Ridon, isa sa mga may-akda ng FOI bill.
Giit pa ng kongresista na kung susuriing mabuti, dapat urgent bill na ang FOI sa dami aniya ng mga pondong nawawaldas ng mga tiwaling opisyal ng gobyerno.
“Well, Mr. President, did you consider that billions of public funds are easily being funneled by corrupt politicians to their own pockets because of lack of public scrutiny? Lack of essential information that hinder Filipinos from being free and self-governing can actually be considered a national emergency in itself,” paalala pa ni Ridon sa pangulo.
Nakikitang dahilan ni Ridon kung bakit hindi masertipikahang urgent ang FOI bill ay dahil may itinatago ang administrasyong Aquino sa paggamit ng pondo sa DAP.
“It is apparent that the Aquino administration is hiding many secrets as regards the utilization of DAP funds. Malacañang’s refusal to disclose DAP details may indeed prove to be the single largest stumbling block to the passage of the FOI Bill,” dagdag pa ng kongresista. Meliza Maluntag
