JRU tututok sa Five-Peat

PAKAY ng Jose Rizal University (JRU) na pahabain ang kanilang pamamayagpag bilang athletics champion sa pang limang sunod na taon sa pag-uumpisa ng 90th NCAA track and field competition ngayong araw sa Philsports Arena sa Pasig City.


Pinangunahan ni Domingo Cabradilla ang Kalentong-based athletes para sungkitin ang four-peat.


Ayon kay Jojo Posadas na siyang coach ng Bombers kasama ang asawa at former national team track star Elma Muros-Posadas, inaasahan nitong mas magiging mahigpit ang labanan ngayon.


“We expect a tougher field this season but we will do our best to win it again this year,” wika ni Posadas.


Para kay NCAA Management Committee chair Paul Supan ng Jose Rizal, inaasahan naman niya na may makikita silang national team potential sa taong ito.


“We’re very happy with the level of competition over the years because we’re really getting highly competitive,” ani Supan. “Hopefully, we could continue to contribute athletes to the national team this year.”


Sinabi naman ni Mapua athletic director at NCAA Mancom member Melchor Divina na may total eight gold medals ang paglalabanan sa three-day event.


Ang gold medals ay mapapanalunan sa seniors pole vault at long jump at juniors discus throw at long jump sa umagang laban habang apat pa sa seniors discus throw at 100 meters at juniors 100m at 2000m steeplechase sa hapon.
