Globe assists Iligan communities hit by Typhoon Agaton via Libreng Tawag, relief ops

IN response to the devastation caused recently by tropical storm Agaton, leading telecommunications company Globe Telecom has set up a Libreng Tawag station as well as provided relief operations in Iligan City.

Iligan City was among the cities and municipalities that declared a state of calamity when Agaton’s continuous rainfall caused massive flooding in low lying areas and communities adjacent to river and tributaries.

Globe offered Libreng Tawag at the covered court of Purok Bayanihan, Brgy. Mahayahay as well as distributed food packs to 201 families in the area.

Aside from Brgy. Mahayahay, relief operations were also held at the covered court of Brgy. Buru-un; and the Barangay Hall of Brgy. Tambacan for 399 and 200 families, respectively.

The three barangays were among the most affected in Iligan City. Brgy. Buru-un was almost submerged when the Linamom river and the sea overflowed. The same scenario happened when the Tambacan and Mahayahay rivers overflowed and caused deep flooding in Brgy. Tambacan and Brgy. Mahayahay.
